At Ivím, we have two possible pathways for patient to receive personalized wellness programs.
The first pathway is related to insurance approval. This is the same process for most of your medications that you receive from your clinician, except for weight loss medications, these require a prior authorization. This means we need to submit evidence of a clinical need and qualification for the therapy. By completing our prior authorization form, this allows our clinicians to submit a prior authorization with all of the needed information as well as complete a "Medical Necessity" form which helps with increasing the odds of coverage.
A little under 20% of patients qualify for insurance coverage of GLP-1 medications. This includes Saxenda (Liraglutide), WeGovy (Semaglutide), and Zepbound (Tirzepatide)*.
Some patients do not qualify for insurance and/or submission of a prior authorization through Ivím because: a) they do not meet FDA criteria and thus will automatically be denied by the insurer OR b) they do not have an insurance provider that Ivím works with (usually government insurance programs such as Medicare/Medicaid as these programs do not cover weight loss medications).
If you have the option to submit a prior authorization, this is because you may qualify for insurance coverage. This process can take one to two weeks to complete, and you must be an Ivim member (with a subscription of $74.99 a month) to participate in this benefit of our program. If approved, you can get started on your medication by scheduling with a provider who will send this prescription to a local pharmacy near you.
If denied or you do not qualify for prior auth submission, you can still get started through our cash pay programs with Lilly Direct, NovoCare, or through personalized compounded programs! Personalized compounded programs use an assortment of compounding pharmacies to provide wellness programs at a reduced cost tailored to each individual's needs. Current GLP-1 medications offered include personalized compounded medications. You can schedule a visit with a provider to determine which medication and program is best for you.
Ivím membership provides access to our comprehensive wellness program through the Ivím Health mobile app. This is rich in educational resources, nutritional guidance, and a tracking system to keep you on track and on target to reach your health and wellness goals, as well as access to support, RNs and providers.
